3rd June 2025 | LBSG Chair | Leave a comment Letter Box Study Group member Arthur Reeder owns the largest collection of postboxes in the UK – some 260 of them, in all sorts of shapes and sizes from earliest Victorian boxes to the present day. What better a location for a group of knitters to yarn bomb to raise money for an Alzheimer’s charity? Arthur came up with the idea two years ago when he met some postbox topper creators. Over the recent Spring Bank Holiday weekend he lent his collection at The Isle of Wight Postal Museum in Newport, Isle of Wight, to the Women’s Institute to display their knitted postbox toppers. He said: “I’m not normally left speechless but having seen what some of these ladies have done, I am speechless and anyone who knows me knows how serious an issue that is.” (copyright: BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8d1r1j34q6o)
